Once upon a time in a very close land, there was a tiny family. Here, in the city of Bakersfield, there was a beautiful woman and her little son Isaac. Although she was a kind and devoted mother and gave her beloved child every luxury and comfort, still she felt he needed a father’s care…
And so begins the story of Robert and Rachel, the happy couple who was chosen by the Fairy Godmother Foundation to be the second recipients of the “Magical Wedding Give Away” program in Bakersfield, California. Nine-year-old Isaac has an inoperable cancerous brain tumor that he is currently undergoing treatment for and was so excited that Robert and Rachel were finally able to have a wedding despite the many set-backs they had experienced, thanks to the help of this non-profit organization.
So on March 18th, 2016, Rachel and her girls were up bright and early, enjoying the comforts of The Padre Hotel while getting ready for the long-anticipated day. Details had been finalized and the schedule was officially rolling. Everyone knew their part to play, their place to be, and the wedding day was in full swing, thanks to the team of fairies from Fairy Godmother A Wedding And Event Planning Company! Itzel from Ilashdolls Makeup arrived early to help the girls look their very best, while Alivia Daniels came in with hairspray flying, and like sprinkles on a cake these two girls made the bride and her girls look just dazzling, for today was a special day.
It wasn’t long before Amanda from House of Flowers announced the arrival of the bride’s bouquet and bridesmaids’ bouquets and even managed to get in a quick “Remember, now, here’s how to hold it” lesson review. Everyone was ready to go and it was finally time for the First Look, one of the most anticipated moments of the day for Robert and Rachel. Robert waited anxiously in the private Belvedere room while Fairy Colleen tiptoed Rachel into the room to tap his shoulder. After exchanges of delight and excitement, Robert and Rachel were whisked away by Brian from C & B Photography to take pictures outside with the bridal party. Revisiting a few spots from their engagement photo shoot, the couple were kept on a well-planned schedule by Fairy TJ and headed to the St. Francis of Assisi Parish in plenty of time.
Make it Happen had already dropped off beautiful displays of wedding flowers and thanks to Matinae Studio Designs, the guests knew exactly when and where to arrive. It wasn’t long before Father Craig entered center stage, flanked by a fleet of men dressed to the prime thanks to AJ’s Tuxedo shop. The music began and the happy tears began to fall as the bride, in her David Tutera wedding gown from Enchanted Bridal Boutique, floated down the aisle closer and closer to her soon-to-be-husband. Nothing would wipe that beaming smile off her face! Their ceremony proceeded without a hitch as friends and family stood close by, and no one could believe it when the happy couple turned to face the audience, declared officially as husband and wife!
A few more photos and The Limousine Scene picked up the bridal party to arrive at The Westchester Downtown where guests would be fed by a delicious serving of NV Catering’s finest foods. David and Carol from Iced Events had just delivered a beautiful, personalized ice sculpture for guests to marvel at and the room was decked out in pink champagne and glitter details everywhere. Cherry Blossom Bouquets designed beautiful flower displays for all the tables that Walker-Lewis Rents had provided, and Make it Happen topped Gimme Some Sugar’s elegant cake with a few extra touches of flowers to tie in the theme.
Guests were entertained by photo booths from Time of My Life and The Westchester Downtown, and after dinner and toasts Mike from Freestyle Event Services kept the party going with plenty of dance music. During the surprise garter football toss you might have caught a glimpse of the lucky penny that Mary Rita from Sew Elegant Bridal Veils and Alterations includes on every wedding gown she alters as a way to wish the couple happiness. It was a busy day with fairies flying everywhere and surprises hidden up everyone’s sleeves. But what a better way to remember the wedding day than by reliving these moments through photos and video, a video that Robert and Rachel can now cherish for a lifetime!
