Wednesday, December 16th, 2015.
That was the day. That was the BIG day. The day planned for a special “project” – a spoken word video with Roman and Hillary Jane. There were going to be cameras and microphones, close-ups and long shots.
Manicure? Check.
Memorized lines? Check.
All the nerves…all the worry. No time to notice Roman’s trembling fingers in his pockets… No time for a proposal – too busy of course! After all…they had been planning this for a month…or more!
Little did Hillary Jane know that this had ALL been planned for her.
Roman and Hillary Jane worked hard on their newest spoken word presentation. But Roman had a surprise ending! Still putting the final touches on it even the day of the shoot, he had a perfectly normal reason to be a little nervous – one that she’d NEVER suspect. And she didn’t.
Ending Scene: Take One.
Hillary Jane: “Why are there so many cameras for this last scene?”
Joshua: “Oh don’t worry – it’s for a dramatic ending. It’s going to be awesome!”
Take Two.
Take Three.
Take Four. This is it. Last one. Here we go!
Roman reaches for the ring and starts with the surprise ending, but Hillary Jane had just messed up her final line and starts to immediately ramble her apologies, totally oblivious to what’s about to happen.
“CUT! CUT! Let’s do that ONE MORE TIME!” – Josh from behind the camera, aware of the potential disaster!
Take Five.
Nailed it! Everyone freezes and Roman continues.
The look on Hillary Jane’s face is PRICELESS.
“I don’t remember the rest…there’s more?” The mess up on Take Four was the perfect transition – a blessing in disguise!!!
Roman proceeds to get down on one knee.
Hillary: “You tricked me!”
Now she got it. Now she understood. The cameras…the manicure…the sunset…

One for their history book, for sure.
