“In His love for me He brought me you, to be the tangible reflection of His love.” – HJ
Roman and HillaryJane are the kind of people who walked into our office on Day One with an idea in mind, a purpose, and a bigger picture. One of the first things they told us was, “We want our wedding day to be all about Jesus, not all about us.” That’s a pretty radical idea in the world of weddings. But it’s not at all radical for a couple like Roman & HillaryJane. Roman is a creative kind of guy and owns a clothing company called weareon3 while HillaryJane is a Christian singer that blends a variety of styles including Hip-hop, rap, pop, acoustic, and R&B. Long story short they met on Twitter, hung out in person, he proposed, she said yes, and, well, now they’re married!
Let’s rewind back to April 2nd, 2016, a day that began with perfect weather – a perfect day for an outdoor wedding! A crew of family and friends arrived early at the private residence for this Bakersfield wedding. Hair and makeup artists, Maribel from Serenity along with Brighton from Beauty by Brighton and her sister Gillian, arrived early to start on hair and makeup for all the lovely women who were to be part of the bridal party as well as other special family members. Wedding coordinator Sarah had an elaborate crew of helpers from Grace Bible Church of Bakersfield working on everything from delivering munchies to folding napkins to setting up the cake table. Thanks to Best Party & Event Rentals there were plenty of tables and chairs all at one convenient location for the entire day. It was a detailed production, for sure!
Joshua and Emily from Evermoore Films were capturing the day on film while Lindsay and Jonah Long were in charge of all the photos. Working together as a team, we were able to capture so many precious moments that happen on a wedding day . . . everything from the bride looking at herself in a mirror for the first time and setting her jewelry in place to the groom hanging out with his buddies and getting a proud pat on the shoulders from his dad. Roman and HillaryJane wanted to pray together before ceremony started, but they also wanted to keep that special moment when the groom sees his bride for the first time at the ceremony. So, holding hands behind a sliding door, the two prayed and were readier than ever to JUST GET MARRIED!
Before long, Pastor Steve Swartz and Roman were lined up with the groomsmen at the ceremony location and the final notes of the prelude faded away. Meanwhile, backstage, HillaryJane took a moment to record a Vlog about “Why I Want to Get Married” literally minutes before she walked down the aisle. The procession started with Antoine’s guitar as family and close friends entered the scene. All rose to greet the beautiful bride as she slowly approached her groom, realizing that this was finally it! The ceremony included a gospel message about how marriage is a reflection of Christ and the church, and encouragement was given to all married couples about how they too need to love each other daily and unconditionally. Darren & Samuel invited everyone to sing and be reminded that all we do in life is for the glory of God, including marriage, and Roman & HillaryJane mixed colored sand as a sign of their new unity together in marriage. With friends and family cheering them on, Mr. and Mrs. Roman Flores were announced as the newest newlyweds in town!
After a few formal pictures, Roman and HillaryJane were whisked away to a nearby orchard and field for some gorgeous photos to remember this special day by. Somehow, a storm trooper managed his way into the photos but HillaryJane didn’t seem to mind at all! But everyone arrived back safe and sound, complete with well-wishes from honking cars driving by, and making their grand entrance, the reception was in full swing! Between Hodel’s Country Dining and the Gutierrez Family a delicious spread of food was laid out for all the guests to enjoy. Stefan from DJ Aslan kept the party going with a full mix of music for the night and started off the dancing with a sweet mother-son dance, father-daughter dance, and of course First Dance between the bride and groom. Tarryn had delivered a most beautiful wedding cake – gold and white and full of yummy goodness – and Staci provided beautiful arrangements of fresh flowers in so many places. There was even a surprise fire dancer who appeared, wowing the guests with a fire juggling show! The wedding was definitely a success and all agreed it was a match made in heaven!
